Health & Wellness
QARI is expanding to provide language-accessible and culturally-responsive outpatient mental health services to Asian immigrants and their families, and other community members in the Quincy area, in addition to new health equity initiatives focused on healthy food access and diabetes prevention.
Mental and Behavioral Health
QARI is committed to work with our strategic partners to expand access to mental health services – featuring multi-lingual and multicultural support – to Asian immigrants and their families. The initiative answers a growing demand for mental health services during the coronavirus pandemic and supports an Asian-American community that has been a target of discriminatory attacks.
Diabetes Prevention & Management
QARI recently launched a new health equity initiative focused on diabetes prevention and management among Asian American populations in Greater Boston and New York City. Funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), A Strategic Approach to Advancing Health Equity for Priority Populations with or at Risk for Diabetes seeks to prevent or delay onset of type 2 diabetes among adults with prediabetes and improve self-care practices, quality of care, and early detection of complications among people with diabetes, using a health equity lens.
Nutrition Education
QARI is working with partners, like City Harvest, GrowNYC, public schools, and other community partners to provide translated recipes, tips, and cooking demos for the Asian and immigrant communities in easy, tasty, and healthy cooking and diets. In addition, clients can access QARI other social services and programs through our integrated model.
Vaccine Outreach
QARI has started working with many health care centers, hospitals, regional vaccination centers, and community partners to provide free transportation, online appointment booking, and onsite translation services for elders and their care takers to get COVID-19 vaccinations in Massachusetts and NYC. Since February 2021, QARI has supported 1000+ elders and individuals from various communities.
