We are immigrants
supporting immigrants.
Mission
Quincy Asian Resources, Inc’s (QARI) mission is to foster and improve the social, cultural, economic and civic lives of immigrants and their families in order to benefit their communities. Through collaborations and partnerships, we provide culturally competent services, such as workforce development, adult education programs, youth development, and cultural events as well as information and referrals to public or other community organizations.
Nominated by USA Today - ‘Leaders of Change,’ a campaign to find path pavers who will guide communities through the next era of civil rights challenges, QARI is recognized as the local leader for helping Asians and immigrants in need.
“We will go nationwide if the opportunity is right... We know there are a lot of people in need, whether they’re coming to us or not. We need to find those people — that’s our job.”
— Philip Chong, President & CEO of QARI
QARI is the go-to center for Asian and immigrant residents of Quincy, such that they refer to us simply by our street number. A friend says to a friend, “Oh, just go to fifteen-oh-nine. They can help with that.”
-
In 1998, prompted by the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley as well as the City of Quincy, local community leaders joined together to form the Quincy Asian Collaborative (QAC).
After reporting an alarming gap in culturally and linguistically relevant social services, the QAC decided the best way to address these issues was to create a new agency.
And so, Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. (QARI) was born. Since November 20th, 2001, QARI has established itself as the go-to resource center for Asian and immigrant residents in Quincy. We have developed a broad array of services: multilingual information and referrals, healthcare navigation, enrichment events for elders, adult English education, youth programming, and acclaimed cultural events. Over time, we have expanded in nearly every aspect. With locations now across Massachusetts and New York City, QARI is serving immigrant populations in innovative ways that empower individuals. Our Workforce Enterprise initiative supports immigrant workforces by providing in-house social services and employment opportunities to partners, including the MBTA, Brooks Brothers, South Shore Health, and Tufts Health Plan. Most recently, QARI has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by utilizing its workforces in the creation of PPE and providing virtual outreach services.
Not only have our collaborations and partnerships helped us form deep, local ties, our expanding network of community partners has also positioned us to best address the evolving needs of Asian and immigrant populations. At our core, we are immigrants supporting immigrants, and we are proud to be QARI.
